Being a social media addict is commonplace these days. All this is because of our inability to live without it even for a few hours.

After all, it’s the only way we find out about current events; it also helps us keep up with updates from  loved ones abroad. However, we’ve become so addicted to it that we spend more time than we often anticipate scrolling through feeds which will take eternity to complete. But before we proceed, one common catalyst for becoming a social media addict is not having real, lifelong friendships. Is this you? And just so you know, the compulsive usage of social media is powerful enough to alter the healthy state of relationships and even open the door to mental health issues in the long run. Also, for crying out loud: it’s totally counterproductive. Finally, I think we should all agree to these:

  1. “When it comes to social media, there are just times I turn off the world, you know. There are just sometimes you have to give yourself space to be quiet, which means you’ve got to set those phones down.” – Michelle Obama
  2. “There’s so much negativity on social media, I don’t want to add to that.” – Shawn Mendes
  3.  “I think there should be regulations on social media to the degree that it negatively affects the public good.” – Elon Musk
